Abstract:

The use of digital technology in healthcare is rapidly advancing and this has implications for practise, for example in terms of treatments, care provision and management, patient information and choice, use of data, management of long-term conditions. This small funded project targeted primarily at student nurses, aims to encourage discussion and debate and raise awareness of the role of digital technology according to the patient's perspective. In particular, students will consider how people might be better supported to manage their long-term health conditions and how this might impact on their relationships and interactions with health care professionals, funding and demands on local services.
