Abstract:

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011 was a remarkable media event, not least because of the attention given to the sister of the bride's backside. In this paper I mobilise Barthes' method in his seminal essay 'The Face of Garbo', in order to reveal the mythologisation of Pippa Middleton's derrière.
