Abstract:Wireless networks have gained an increasingly important role in our daily lives. They give us the much needed flexibility and mobility with one major concern, security. Since they use radio frequencies to transmit data from one node to another, the hacker does not have to gain physical access to the network wires and to pass through firewalls and gateways. As the threats are coming from multiple angles with a variety of different platforms, traditional security methods do not provide sufficient protection. Hence, more powerful solutions are needed. It is considered that using Behavioural-Based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) will assist the identification of malicious user activity, and help to improve the resulting security of wireless networks.
