Abstract:

The Minimum Bit Error Rate (MBER) detector is capable of outperforming the conventional Minimum Mean Squared Error (MMSE) detector by minimizing the Bit Error Rate (BER) directly. In this paper, We consider the MBER beamforming assisted multiple-antenna receiver for multi-user Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) systems. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is then invoked for finding the optimum weight vectors to work out the MBER optimization by its virtue of quick convergence to reasonably good solution and high efficiency against local minima. © 2013 IEEE.
