Abstract:We all reflect upon our experiences in life, often using such reflections to shape our future actions and behaviour. This presentation will consider the current evidence regarding reflective practice in Occupational Therapy, and outline an ongoing Doctoral study by the author exploring reflective practice in India.
This study emerged following the author’s own reflections on collaborative project working with Occupational Therapy colleagues in India. A subsequent review of literature, regarding reflection in Occupational Therapy practice, identified a body of research originating in the UK, Canada and Australia, but very little across Asia. This research hopes to capitalize on the documented interest in evidence based, person centred care within Occupational Therapy in India and the drive towards professional recognition and regulation. Linking these concepts to reflective practice provides an opportunity for this work to contribute to education and professional practice, and hence the continued development of Occupational Therapy in India.
