Biography

I am an archaeologist with degrees from Mainz University (BA, 2015), Uppsala University (MA, 2018) and Kiel University (PhD, 2023). I am specialized in Scandinavian early history with foci on human-animal relationships, visual culture and cultural contacts. During my PhD, I worked with picture stones from Gotland (Sweden) and I was part of the Project Ancient Images 2.0 based at Stockholm University which aimed for a digitisation and online presentation of those monuments.

Aside from Scandinavian archaeology, I have worked with the Nunalleq Project in Quinhagak, Alaska, between 2018 and 2023. I have co-supervised excavations and surveys and instructed students in the field. The work in this community-based project raised my interest in Indigenous archaeology and American precontact sites.

I am currently employed as a postdoctoral research assistant in the project AHRC Peopling of the Tularosa Basin with a specific focus on neoichnology and ancient footwear.
