Biography
Dr Hande Turkoglu is a Lecturer in Tourism in the Department of Marketing, Strategy & Innovation at Bournemouth University Business School. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, contributing to modules related to tourism and hospitality management, marketing and technology, research methods, sustainability and organisational behaviour. She supervises undergraduate (BA Hons) and postgraduate (MSc) students. She holds the role of BSc Marketing Level 5 Lead and Postgraduate (PG) Tourism and Hospitality Dissertation Coordinator within the Department of Marketing, Strategy and Innovation.
Her PhD research focused on workplace sexual harassment in hospitality organisations, examining the structural and cultural factors that contribute to gendered power dynamics in the industry. Her broader research interests include labour, employment, and organisational behaviour in tourism and hospitality, with a particular focus on workplace well-being, gender dimensions, and the experiences of migrant workers... Additionally, she is interested in the intersection of marketing and technological affordances for work and tourism experiences, exploring how digital innovations shape both labour conditions and consumer interactions.
Dr Turkoglu has actively participated in numerous academic conferences, where she has presented her research on gender and diversity management, workplace cultures, and the evolving nature of employment in tourism and hospitality. She is a member of several academic and sectoral bodies, including professional associations focused on tourism and hospitality research and education. Her work is dedicated to fostering industry-wide discussions on creating equitable and inclusive working environments, and she continues to collaborate with researchers and practitioners to bridge academic insights with real-world applications.
Regarding research supervision, Hande welcomes PhD students in the areas of interest that include a wide array of topics covering of labour, employment, human resource management, and organisational behaviour within tourism and hospitality, workplace well-being, gender and diversity, migrant labour, and work and leisure in tourism experiences.
