Once upon a time, there was a Broadcaster… responding to the distributed risk of children’s programme production and consumption.

Abstract:

Once concentrated within public service broadcasters, children's media production and consumption now spans both public-service and commercial platforms. For four decades, this process of fragmentation has accelerated, but the support and regulatory networks available to children's media producers and consumers has not matched pace, leading to a landscape of distributed risk. This contribution to the Children's Media Foundation Public Service Media Campaign argues that a new approach to supporting and regulating children's media content is required.
