In the comics, mutants represent the oppressed minority and humans represent the oppressive majority. Real-life social issues are reflected in the comics through the use of metaphor, giving readers a unique insight into the experiences of discrimination and oppression. The comics can help social workers develop their understanding and empathy towards minority groups.
