Abstract:

This paper considers the impact of decision making for women in early pregnancy around prenatal screening and diagnosis. It proposes that presenting the complexity of statistical data and depersonalised facts can threaten the woman's wellbeing, making it very difficult for her to find a rationale for choosing to participate in testing or not, which is acceptable to her as an individual.
