Facile micro templating LiFePO<inf>4</inf> electrodes for high performance Li-ion batteries

The conflicting demands on Li-ion electrodes, combining high ionic conductivity with high electrode density, are achieved by hydrogen carbonate salt templates creating 3D highly interconnected ionic pathways. Demonstrated for carbon coated LiFePO 4 , this exceptionally simple and cheap templating method results in electrodes with excellent high rate capacity retention, combined with very high electrode densities reaching ∼2 g cm -3 .
