Abstract:

This performance explores modular improvisation in VCV Rack through the creation of generative ambient soundscapes. Using partially self-evolving patches combined with real-time interaction, the work investigates how musical form can emerge from the interplay between system behaviour and performer agency. Generative processes produce continuously shifting textures, while live intervention shapes structure and timbre. The performance engages with questions of liveness, authorship and control in modular systems, positioning generative synthesis as a co-creative partner in electroacoustic practice.
