Biography
Adina Maglan is a community innovator and social policy specialist dedicated to advancing racial equity and fairness. After securing a fully funded studentship, she is currently completing a PhD at Bournemouth University researching underrepresented voices in decision-making, marginalisation and participation of diaspora communities, proposing policy makers a framework for consistent policy changes for a more inclusive Britain. Her PhD thesis – “Inclusive Britain: A comparative study on marginalisation and recognition of Eastern European identities in London and Birmingham public policy” - explores the ambiguity of different ethnic categories used in policy making when referring to people (traditionally) referred to as Eastern European and analyses the mechanisms engaged by these communities in relation to their ethnicity and policy making.
Previously, she earned a BSc in Community Development and Public Policy (Equalities) from Birkbeck and also a studentship funded Postgraduate Diploma in Law, Racial Equity, and Community Leadership from SOAS...
With over 12 years’ experience across the UK public and voluntary sectors, Adina has founded and led multiple initiatives supporting EU communities in the UK. She has secured more than £1.5 million in funding for local government, third-sector projects, and research.
Her expertise spans project development, capacity building, policy design and audit, ED&I consultancy, inclusive communication, community organising, advocacy, research, and training delivery.
Adina has a keen interest in impact and aims to contribute to projects that connect research and policy making in a meaningful way.
