Abstract:Chapter 2 includes five case studies that together consider innovative applications of technology to support online teaching. Online teaching presents particular challenges for both academics and students. However, increasingly technology can be used to facilitate this learning journey, thereby ensuring an improved experience for those involved. The case studies in this chapter include examples of the application of Active Digital Education (ADE) for the design of online learning, the use of Microsoft Teams as a tool for student empowerment and engagement, the development of an online learning ecosystem, a pedagogical model for engaging postgraduate researchers online and an investigation into effective asynchronous curriculum that explores the challenges faced when adopting this approach.
