Biography

Jo is a lecturer in criminology. She teaches undergraduates and postgraduates in theory, crime prevention and research skills.

Jo has spent much of her career researching human rights in Africa for several organisations including UN bodies and NGOs. In the UK she has experience of managing a project supporting the reintegration of ex-prisoners into their local communities, and developing an interest into criminal justice collaboration and partnership working. In 2023 she completed her PhD thesis on Interprofessional collaborative practice in the criminal justice sector. Jo retains an interest in social justice and the human rights of detained and imprisoned people, wherever they may be, and posits that contemporary responses to crime typically create more problems than resolutions.
