Biography
Dr Yuanchen Xu is a Lecturer in Computer Science in Department of Computing & Informatics at Bournemouth University. He received his PhD in Computer Science in 2022 and MSc degree in Computing from De Montfort University. His PhD project explored an approach enabling a proactive incident response for varying businesses informed by cyber threat intelligence, using computational intelligence combining grey system theory, fuzzy set theory and rough set theory. In the project, he also developed a set of rough-set-based incremental updating algorithms for computation efficiency to update the model without re-computations for new training data. He has over 8 years’ experience of industry-level full-stack software development. He is proficient in a wide range of programming languages, libraries and frameworks.
His research interest covers all aspects of computational intelligence (fuzzy logic, rough set theory, neural network, etc.) and applications of computational intelligence to complex real-world problems, particularly the problems where decision-making processes might be stochastic in nature, contain some uncertainties and might be too complex for mathematical reasoning.
