Biography
Dr. Emmanuella (Ella) Ejime-Okereafor is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Chartered Management and Business Educator (CMBE), and Lecturer in Digital Marketing Communications within The Media School in the Faculty of Media, Science and Technology at Bournemouth University, U.K. Her teaching and research focus on digital media strategy, multi-channel communication, consumer trust, and behavioural responses within digital service encounters.
Ella holds an LL.B in Law, LL.M in International Business Law, Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Ph.D. in Marketing and Consumer Behaviour. A qualified Nigerian lawyer with over 10 years at the Bar, she is also SQE2-qualified with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in the United Kingdom. Her interdisciplinary expertise bridges law, marketing, and digital communication, underpinned by her doctoral research exploring psychological distance and consumer behaviour in digital insurance contexts across the UK and Nigeria.
She has taught and led units at Coventry University London, University of West London, and Bournemouth University, where she currently leads Digital Media Strategies, Digital Media Practices, Digital Essentials, and Brand & Branding... She is also an External Examiner at the University of Greenwich, supporting programmes in Marketing, Global Business, and Management.
Ella serves as Co-Chair of Bournemouth University’s Race Equality Network and is recognised as a Race, Equality, and Diversity Champion, driving inclusive education and equitable practice across the university. She is also Head of External Relations for the W²O Foundation and a Trustee with Citizens Advice Central Dorset, where she contributes to communication and community engagement initiatives.
She is the founder of the ELMO Legal Excellence Scholarship, which sponsors aspiring lawyers in Nigeria. Ella’s work reflects her strong commitment to social equity, inclusive leadership, and community empowerment, aligning with Bournemouth University’s vision of inspiring learning, advancing knowledge, and enriching society.

Her background is in Law, International Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Media and Strategic Management. Currently in the final stage of her PhD, which focuses on Consumer Psychology, Consumer Behaviour and Multi-channel Marketing. She has carried out some extremely interesting research on Psychological Distance, Consumer Behaviour and Digital Marketing, and have built a progressing avenue for publication in different fields, including Interdisciplinary Studies and Law. Also actively seeking to collaborate in different research areas that are very engaging.
