Biography
Emma Lucas is an Academic Lecturer in Adult Nursing with the Bournemouth University Faculty of Health and Social Sciences. She is an experienced Senior Registered Nurse and continues to practice within her clinical area of Urgent and Emergency Care. She qualified from Bournemouth University with a First Class (Hons) Degree in 2016 and continued to develop her nursing skill set within a range of practice areas, which included Cardiology, Community, Palliative Care and Urgent and Emergency Care. Emma is a keen supporter of the NHS and advocates working in a compassionate and inclusive culture in partnership with all people and patients. She practiced throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and observed the nursing landscape evolve and adapt to almost daily changes from government, scientific and Public Health England advice. Her management experience (Band 7) has resulted in her commitment to promote honesty, openness, civility, and respect for the individual and apply social theory to contemporary issues to teach altruistic values and kind open caring no matter what the environment or situation presents...
Emma is Unit Lead for Applied Health Care Sciences in year three and a Personal Tutor within year two. She contributes to a variety of courses across the year three nursing programme including Therapeutic Communication and Interpersonal skills for Nursing Practice, Clinical Leadership and Management and Applied Health Care Sciences 3.
Her research interests include involving patients as active collaborators within her clinical area of Urgent and Emergency Care, just as clinicians and managers are asked for their views and personal experience when contributing to research.
