Biography
Judith completed her PhD at Loughborough University investigating biomarkers of stress, immune function and factors that influence the response to exercise. She held lectureship posts in London Universities before joining Bournemouth University in 2025. Her principle research interests lie in exercise immunology and biomarkers of disease (e.g. cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory) relating to lifestyle factors (exercise, nutritional and environmental), translating this into at risk and understudied groups/areas (e.g. ethnic minorities and women’s health). Her other interests lie in extreme environments e.g. heat/cold/pollution exposure, and the increased influence of climate change on human and planetary health/performance.
Judith has successful collaborations with academics and industry both nationally and internationally, and her research has been supported by external grants including GSK, Nestlé, NHS and UKIR. She is a current mentor for WiSEAN (Women in Sport and Exercise Academic Network) and has been a representative for the Physiological Society, regularly engaging in Parliamentary and Scientific Committee’s events in the Houses of Parliament, and workshops to help shape UK policy.
