Biography

Dr Jamie Franklin is a Consultant Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Radiologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, and Head of the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation. He studied Medicine at Cambridge University and Imperial College London before undertaking an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Oxford, where he completed specialist training in Radiology. Subsequently, he undertook DPhil at the University of Oxford, as part of the CRUK/EPSRC-funded Oxford Cancer Imaging Centre, studying oligometastatic colorectal cancer. He currently serves on the British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (BSGAR) Committee, and is the radiology representative on the National Oesophagogastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA). He is a regular invited speaker at the Royal College of Radiologists, British Institute of Radiology and BSGAR Annual Meetings.

Research

Jamie's research has predominantly focused on using MRI and other advanced imaging techniques to stage cancer and assess tumour biology. He has collaborated across multiple clinical and academic disciplines, from genetics and histopathology to engineering and surgery, and remains passionate about cross-disciplinary working. He is currently local PI on the Sunflower and MOTILITY multicentre imaging studies.
