Biography

Joseph McMullen is a lecturer in law specialising in air quality management and environmental law. A member of the Environment Threats and Strategic Research Group, European Environmental Law Forum, Centre for Science, Health and Data Communication Research, and the British Ecological Society, Joseph’s research focuses primarily on fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and the legal regulation of particulate pollution in mitigating threats to public health.

Joseph teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate units and currently leads the LLM in Wills, Trusts, and the Administration of Estates and co-leads LLB Legal Skills and Systems.

Joseph led the coordination of the 8th Annual European Environmental Law Forum Conference at Bournemouth University in 2021 and coordinated the Synthethics - AI and Human Rights: Current Challenges and Future Prospects Conference at Bournemouth University and Kyiv National Economic University in 2024.
