Biography
I am responsible for providing strong academic and strategic leadership in education, research, enterprise and professional practice together with the effective people, operational and financial management. I firmly believe in ensuring our students have the best educational experience possible. I am keen to ensure that our links with industry and commerce are maintained and I have been involved in many industrial partnerships.
I was awarded a HEFCE/DTI National Business Fellowship in 2001 in recognition of the collaborative work undertaken between the University and Industry. I have run and delivered a large number of consultancy projects, generally in the area of embedded systems and instrumentation. I have been successful in gaining a number of DTI grants for Research and Development with local companies. I have also been successful in attracting EPSRC CASE awards again with local companies.
I am also proud of the excellent links that I helped establish with the Royal School of Signals where a number courses delivered there are validated by the University allowing serving members of the armed forces to obtain University qualifications.
