Biography

Dr Mayank Anand is the Course Leader and Senior Lecturer (Mechanical Engineering) within the School of Computing and Engineering at Bournemouth University (BU). Mayank completed his PhD in Tribology at BU and BEng Hons degree in Aero-Mechanical Engineering with First Class from the University of Strathclyde (UK).

In past, Mayank worked as Lecturer and Programme Pathway Leader in Mechanical Engineering at the prestigious higher education institution of the Ministry of Defence of Oman - Military Technological College (MTC), Muscat for 5 years.

Mayank also worked on applied industrial research for 3 years as Research Tribologist and Team Leader for Material Testing and Characterisation at the European Technical Centre of Daido Metal Co. Ltd based in Somerset (UK). He worked on multiple research projects of different levels of complexity and budgets involving research and development of advanced coating materials for various types of bearings used in automotive, power generation and marine applications...

Research

Dr Mayank’s primarily research field is Tribology. He conducts research in enhancing the tribological performance of advanced materials (such as different coatings and additively manufactured materials), and lubricants used in industrial applications. Currently, Mayank is working on water lubrication and metal additive manufacturing. Mayank supervises PhD students and is welcoming PhD project applications.
