Biography
I have a Doctorate in Law from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC-Brazil) and spent a year conducting research at the University of Oxford (UK). I also hold a Bachelor of Laws and a Master's in Development Studies from the Regional University of Blumenau (FURB-Brazil). Since July 2022, I have been a Senior Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at Bournemouth University. Prior to joining BU, I spent four years as a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute in Germany. I am also a Law Professor at the University of Marília (Unimar), Brazil, teaching in the law graduate programme. Additionally, I am an IP expert at the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Before joining the Academy full-time, I worked as a lawyer, in a technology park and also taught part-time.
Research
My current research interests focus on the one hand on Intellectual Property & Green Life Sciences, targeting issues such as the role of patents in food security, and on the other hand on Intellectual Property strategy, internationalisation of companies, and law and economics. My research usually connects with regional development issues and deals mainly with Latin American emerging economies.
