Biography
Stuart originally graduated from Bournemouth University in 2002 with a BA Honours Degree in Scriptwriting for Film and Television. After a change in career in 2009 Stuart returned to Bournemouth University to become a Paramedic and graduated from the FdSc Paramedic Science course with a Distinction in 2012. Stuart has worked as a Paramedic for both South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWAST) and South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) in full-time and bank positions as a Band 6 Paramedic. During his time at SCAS Stuart covered a Clinical Mentor role looking after University Students from the University of Portsmouth. After supporting the University with some practical teaching Stuart secured a full-time Lecturing position with the University of Portsmouth in 2015. During his time at the University of Portsmouth Stuart taught FdSc, BSc and CertHE Paramedic Science students. With interests in technology enhanced learning (TEL) and simulation Stuart sought to integrate technologies such as videos, podcasts, interactive technologies (virtual reality) and multi-faceted, multi-agency high fidelity simulation into the curriculum... Stuart was a lead in innovation and technologies for the Paramedic Science course as well as Lead for Level 4 Paramedic Students. In April 2018 Stuart became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and became a Senior Lecturer on the BSc Paramedic Science course at the University of Portsmouth. In January 2020 Stuart moved to Bournemouth University to take up the position of Lecturer on the BSc Honours Paramedic Science programme where he is working with the team to integrate learning technologies into the course structure. Stuart currently holds a Bank Paramedic contract with SCAS where he still works shifts as a frontline Paramedic in the NHS.
