Suzanne Sheppard began her PhD in June 2021 with funding from Fortuneswell Cancer Trust, NIHR ARC Wessex and Bournemouth University. Prior to starting the PhD, Suzanne had recently completed a postgraduate diploma in oncology and also worked at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (Poole Hospital), initially as an oncology research nurse and then as a gynae-oncology clinical nurse specialist. Other experience outside nursing has included working in the pharmaceutical industry monitoring clinical trials following completion of a BSc (Hons) in microbiology at Imperial College London.
Suzanne will be exploring how healthcare professionals can better help patients and their partners with their sexual concerns following cancer treatment.
