Biography

Abi Batley is a dynamic figure in the field of design & engineering, recognised for her dedication to education, research, and industrial collaborations. As a Lecturer in Engineering Design at Bournemouth University, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role.

Abi has background in product design, visualisation and rapid prototyping. Her career has seen her work for organisations such as The RNLI, Drilling Systems, and STYLIDEAS, where she has played pivotal roles in designing and developing innovative products across various industries.

Abi's current research focuses on pushing the boundaries of engineering design, particularly in the realm of paediatric prosthetics. She is dedicated to advancing the field through the application of composite additive manufacturing, with a specific emphasis on developing dynamic response ankle-foot devices that empower children to participate in sports and physical activities.
