Biography

My career to date has been a mix of both industrial and academic experience. In industry I have been involved with designing warships and submarines through to minimising the structural weight of satellites. The common theme throughout my career has been a focus on structures and the ways in which they impact on overall systems and products. Latterly, I have focused on aerospace design and have worked with Airbus UK to deliver development programmes in structural design of lightweight structures.

I have an established research and knowledge transfer track record in the field of computational mechanics, specifically hybrid analysis methodologies and inverse problem analysis. As a result I have published in excess of 60 papers, including peer reviewed academic papers in prestige journals, such as the Journal of Strain, the Journal of Renewable Energy and the International Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics.

My research will continue to be broad based and user led. The application areas of health, aerospace, environmental, engineering design and knowledge based systems and hybrid analysis and inverse problem engineering, will continue to be developed in parallel.
