Biography

I was born in Cienfuegos (Cuba) and studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cienfuegos. I got my PhD from the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 2002. Now, I am Associate Professor and teach at the Polytechnic School of Engineering in Gijon and I am a member of the "Lubrication and Surface Technology - LuSuTec" research group (http://personales.uniovi.es/web/lusutec/inicio), where research projects and doctoral thesis are conducted.

I worked as Director for Latin America, rest of the World and Development Cooperation at the University of Oviedo from 2008 to 2012, coordinating the institutional agreements with universities of these geographical areas and visited universities in Mexico, Chile, Argentina, China, Cuba and UK. Since 2009 I am a Senior Visiting Research Fellow at Bournemouth University.

Research

Dr. Antolin Hernandez Battez joined University of Oviedo in 2001 as a Lecturer teaching numerous subjects in Mechanical Engineering. Since 2010 he has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering of the University of Oviedo. During this period he has received grants from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, Principality of Asturias and industry in order to develop research projects in Tribology and Mechanical Engineering and as result numerous papers has been published in relevant international journals and presented in conferences worldwide. He also has conducted numerous undergraduate works and Ph.D. thesis.
