Biography

I joined Bournemouth University in 2010 as a Demonstrator in Geoinformatics. This role includes teaching the capture and analysis of spatial data using different survey methods and GIS based tools such as GNSS, 3D laser scanning and emerging drone-based technology. I deliver teaching on a number of different units in the Department of Archaeology & Anthropology and the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences including Geographical Information Systems, Archaeological Practice, Studying Ancient Materials and Earth Surfaces, Processes & Landforms.

I have a background in archaeology and spatial technology and on completing my MSc at Southampton University worked as a contaminated land investigator, primarily focusing on closed landfill sites in southern Britain. This job utilised many traditional archaeological survey techniques, as well as historic aerial photograph interrogation , map regression and soil sampling.

In my current role, I have carried a wide variety of fieldwork in support of academic research, including the identification of early hominid footprints in Kenya, the use of urban space in 15th Century Songo Mnara (Tanzania) and prehistoric temples in Malta...
