Biography

Patrick has been active in research and research dissemination, in teaching, management, administration, pastoral care of students as well as consultancy work for police departments, public prosecution agencies, local authorities and several task forces and think tanks. He has wide experience in strategic as well as operational leadership. His work has frequently required him to establish connections across organizational as well as disciplinary divides. He also has been effective in raising funds from a wide range of sources.

Patrick’s research is applied-driven and is broadly about four interconnected topics, i.e. a) crime governance and policing (crime governance and policing are no longer governed from the center, but are, rather, embedded in a patchwork of separate programs in which public and private partners come together), b) cybercrime (e.g. grooming, hacking communities, criminal careers and recidivism, the relation between victimization in physical world and cyber world), and cyber security (in relation to organised crime, terrorism, commercial corporations and espionage), c) contemporary issues in criminology (e.g...
