Biography

Elvira is a Senior Lecturer (Academic) in Marketing at the Faculty of Management. She has led the BSc Marketing degree, BU's first inter-faculty degree, for 4.5 years and currently mentors new Programme Leader. Moreover, Dr Bolat is Global Engagement Leader at the Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management - responsible for driving BU's and Department's global agenda.

She is currently teaching and leading the following subjects: Strategic Applied Marketing (MBA), Digital Interactive Marketing (UG Business Studies and International Business Management programmes), Digital Marketing and Communications (UG Global Business Management programme), Developing Strategy for Global Markets (UG BSc Marketing programme). In the past she led and taught on Marketing Communications unit (PG), Developing Management Competencies unit (UG Business Studies), Introduction to Management unit (UG Business Studies), Contemporary Issues in Marketing unit (PG), Research in Business Management unit (UG Business Studies), Research Methods unit (PG)...

Research

Elvira's research covers digital aspects of businesses and its marketing. Her doctoral research focused on mobile technology capabilities and their role in service innovation practices in the creative SMEs.

She has written papers on the use of digital technology in the Higher Education.

She is deputy-chair for Business-to-Business Special Interest Group (SIG), Academy of Marketing and since 2013 has organised annual B2B Marketing colloquiums, as a result of which number of special issues were developed.

Her latest projects are (1) within the fashion industry with particular focus on luxury branding and digital marketing; (2) food poverty in the UK - creating awareness and building local partnerships in striking food poverty; (3) conversion postgraduate course – an agenda for engaging diverse learners; (4) role of a social journalism in attracting and supporting international students; (5) adoption of the IoT by SMEs and by consumers in the UK.
